Up until recently SSL Certificates have been used primarily on Ecommerce websites. However, due to recent updates we would now recommend that if your site has a login area, then you should have an SSL Certificate installed on your site.
Mozilla has recently released version 52 of their Firefox browser for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. This update adds a new feature that warns users when trying to log into non-HTTPs websites.

On January 12, 2016, Microsoft officially ended technical support and security updates for Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, and 10. Users have been encouraged to upgrade to IE 11, or switch browsers, in order to avoid security risks.
